NB: this page is devoted to investigating the crisis in the Church from a historical point of view. The dates and events are noted as facts or as “allegations” to denote the level of documentation supporting each point that I have seen. I have tried to include as many footnotes as possible, but there are also gaps in the evidence, and I ask the reader to pardon any errors and correct me where I have erred. The reader must also take care to guard against the vices of curiosity and despair and to not read any of this if such vices tempt you. Please do not take any of these assertions at face value but investigate the sources for yourself and see whether or not they are accurate. From my view, the best secondary source introduction to the history of the crisis is Infiltration: The Plot to Destroy the Church from Within by Taylor Marshall.
Undoubtedly there will be inaccuracies below, and some things will never be known. Please contact me with any corrections or additions, but I will ignore any email that does not include sources. I will update this page regularly.

1955 Bugnini’s Holy Week “Restoration”
1960 Sr. Lucia instructs pope to reveal Third Secret after 1960, whose contents are later revealed to be a vision of the pope, bishops and faithful being massacred and an angel crying “Penance! Penance! Penance!” St. John XXIII states he will not reveal this foreboding message in 1960.
-St. John XXIII calls Roman synod (as forerunner to Vatican II) which calls for renewal of Tridentine rigor, confirming traditional practices such as priestly tonsure, liturgical orthodoxy. Vatican II schema are written.
-Pope St. John does not observe the Holy Week “Restoration” rites
1962-65 Modernists are allowed at Vatican II as periti. Instead of foreboding message of Fatima and call for penance, St. John XXIII’s opening message “disagrees with these prophets of gloom.” Council is dominated by optimism and no call for the world to do penance. His opening speech however, does include the “same sense, same understanding” language.
-The French, German, Dutch and Belgian “Rhine Group” dominates the council, forcing original schemata to be thrown out, and ambiguous (meaning lack of canonical, dogmatic language) documents approved. Roman Synod of 1960 is ignored.
-Secret agreement is made (“Metz Agreement”) with Russia to never condemn communism at the council, although a petition of 400 priests from 86 countries begs the council to condemn communism (schema condemning communism is ignored).

-An unknown number of bishops and priests are later revealed to be active homosexuals or protectors of homosexuals
-Ratzinger writes that “a basic unity of churches…must replace the idea of conversion.”
1968 St. Paul VI confesses his Creed, condemns contraception, and attempts to prevent further abuse of Communion in the Hand by giving a limited indult on it, also indults the 1965 Missal. Innumerable clergy and laity publicly resist his contraception ruling which he does not enforce.
-The Italian state revokes the Vatican Bank tax exempt status, St. Paul VI brings in Freemason mafia banker Sindona to help
1969 Oath against modernism is abolished and reformers change nearly every prayer in the 1962 Missal, removing references to sacrifice, sin, death, hell etc. from Missal Ordo and propers, removing similar passages from Scripture readings and Psalms. Bugnini says that he intends to “remove every stumbling block” to Protestants in order to convert them. Official translation document, Comme le prevoit, promotes suppression of words like “merit” “beseech” “handmaiden” and other Catholic vocabulary, stating that translations must not be “contrary to modern Christian ideas.” External innovations are promoted like the people altar, communion in hand, and the destruction of sacred music, much in the name of Modernism or Antiquarianism
-Freemasons allegedly claim both St. John XXIII and Paul VI as their members.
1965-1978 Modernism grows – Mass attendance and vocations in Euro-America plummet continually through present (other areas not previously affected by Modernism, such as Africa, experience growth). Priests and Bishops secretly cover up their and others’ active homosexuality.
1972 St. Paul VI observes that “the smoke of Satan” has infected the Church and it is enduring “self-destruction”
-Ratzinger, Bouyer, von Balthasar, de Lubac, Oullet, and Kasper break away from Concilium and found the journal Communio
1976 French and Italian sources print allegations that Pope Paul VI is an active sodomite which he publicly denies
-Bugnini is (again) abruptly dismissed and exiled to Iran. Bugnini allegedly admits that this was due to Paul VI believing Bugnini to be a Freemason, although Bugnini denies he is a Mason.
1978 Cardinal Gagnon documents wholesale corruption of the curia for Paul VI. Pope refuses to act. Paul VI passes this information to John Paul I, who dies after attempting to remove Baggio. Information of wholesale corruption is given to John Paul II.

-John Paull II and later Benedict XVI both give Holy Communion to Protestant Robert Shutz
1980-200s Ratzinger publishes against the Modernists, publicly criticizing the New Missal while stating that division in the church is above all liturgical. Calls for New Liturgical Movement. However, upholds liberal concepts from Vatican II such as religious liberty. States that Gaudium et Spesis a “counter-syllabus” yet states it teaches no new doctrine.
1983 New Code of Canon law redefines Marriage, softens penalties for sins of clergy, permits schismatics communion, and removes requirement for Thomism in seminaries

-Vatican Bank financial chief Sindona is murdered in prison
1987 James Grein tells John Paul II in person about McCarrick’s abuse
1988 St. John Paul II does not require SSPX to be bound by Vatican II to be reconciled and agrees to give them one bishop. Lefebvre consecrates four bishops without his approval. He excommunicates Lefebvre (and those he consecrated), the only excommunication of his pontificate. JPII states that Vatican II contains “new doctrine” (Ecclesia Dei). St. John Paul II creates FSSP using 1962 Missal but does not grant them a bishop as was promised to SSPX.
1992 JPII issues New Catechism via Ratzinger and Schönborn, confirming the conservative Nouvelle Theologie party against the Modernist use of Vatican II. Suppresses the doctrine of penal substitution, softens doctrine of Extra Ecclesia Nulla Salvus, removes marriage hierarchy teaching, and removes all teachings against Modernism by Gregory XVI, St. Pius X and Bl. Pius IX, previously included in original VII schems.
1998 JPII creates new Oath Of Fidelity (against Modernism), but softens its language by removing “same sense same understanding” language.

-Benedict completes investigative dossier on curia corruption but does not act on it before resignation.
2013-present Powerful homosexual Cardinal McCarrick and Gallen Mafia campaign for Bergoglio.
-Bergoglio is elected as Pope Francis I. Confirms Germany and Italy’s disobedience to Liturgiam Authenticam by issuing new powers to country’s translations, refuses to answer multiple Dubia on the Sacred Tradition from thousands of laity, priests, bishops, and suppresses religious orders using 1962 Missal.
-Bishops and clergy increasingly celebrate 1962 Missal. Very small number of Bishops and Cardinals begin to publicly criticize the Pope Francis
-Modernists at every level continue to promote Modernism by using Vatican II as justification. New efforts are made to promote women’s ordination, repeal ban on Contraception, and the long resistance to communist China is ended by Pope Francis in favor of communists
-Pope Francis teaches in contradiction to John Paul II and Bendict XVI on communion for remarried, calling it “authentic magisterium,” changes catechism to condemn death penalty, contradicting prior catechism, and prior magisterium, states that the plurality of religious is God’s will in the same way as Creation
See Ulrich L. Lehner, The Catholic Enlightenment: The Forgotten History of a Global Movement (Oxford, 2016), who details the efforts of Catholics over these centuries to implement the type of reforms that Vatican II later promulgated.
For this and other claims in this outline, see Taylor Marshall, “Freemasons.” The revelations were written in 1777 and approved by the local bishop. In 1984, St. John Paul II approved the local veneration
The Permanent Instruction on the Alta Vendita, in which the Freemasons state “Our final end is that of Voltaire and the French Revolution, the destruction forever of Catholicism and even of the Christian idea…we will conquer the Catholic Church not by argumentation, but rather by moral corruption.” This document was published as a warning by Popes Gregory XVI, Bl. Pius IX, and Leo XIII. See Msgr. George F. Dillon, The War of Antichrist with the Church, 1885, endorsed by Leo XIII, p. 65. See also Timothy Gordon, “The Great Modern Attack on the Church,” Catholic Answers, July 1st, 2017; Michael Hichborn, “Satan Must Reign in the Vatican. Dei Filius, canon 4.3 “If anyone shall assert it to be possible that sometimes, according to the progress of knowledge, a sense is to be given to doctrines propounded by the Church different from that which the Church has understood and understands; let him be anathema.” Ch. 4: “Let then the intelligence, science, and wisdom of each and all, of individuals and of the whole Church, in all ages and at all times, increase and flourish in abundance and vigor; but simply in its own proper kind, that is to say, in one and the same doctrine, one and the same sense, one and the same judgment.” Emphasis mine.
This is the accusation of Monsignor Jouin who states that he, on the basis of certain documents, compelled the Emperor to issue the veto. There exists no substantial evidence of Freemasony. Whatever the case, Mrs. Engel identifies Rampolla’s modernist tendencies with informing his proteges Eugenio Pacelli (Ven. Pius XII), Giacomo della Chiesa (Benedict XV) and Angelo Giuseppe Roncalli (St. John XXIII). The masonic-based sect Ordo Templi Orientis claimed Rampolla as an member (Randy Engel, “Paul VI and the Church’s Paradigm Shift on Homosexuality,” The Rite of Sodomy Homosexuality and the Roman Catholic Church). Engel’s claim, although disputed, is listed as “alleged” by OTO archivist Peter-Robert Koenig (Das OTO-Phaenomen, Germany 1994) who cites Georges Virebeau: Prelats et Franc-Maçons, Paris 1978.

Condemned proposition by the Holy Office December 1st, 1924: “Truth is not found in any particular act of the intellect wherein conformity with the object would be had, as the Scholastics say, but rather truth is always in a state of becoming, and consists in a progressive alignment of the understanding with life, indeed a certain perpetual process, by which the intellect strives to develop and explain that which experience presents or action requires: by which principle, moreover, as in all progression, nothing is ever determined or fixed.” The last of these condemned propositions is: “ Even after Faith has been received, man ought not to rest in the dogmas of religion, and hold fast to them fixedly and immovably, but always solicitous to remain moving ahead toward a deeper truth and even evolving into new notions, and even correcting that which he believes.” Cited in Lagrange, op. cit.

Paul L. Williams, The Vatican Exposed (New York: Prometheus Books, 2003). The assertions of HE Spellman’s corruption were asserted by first hand witnesses in Spellman’s biography but the diocese of New York was able to force out these assertions. Mr. Williams uses primary sources to convincingly assert the corruption, and Dr. Marshall shows that Spellman was likely one of Mrs. Dodd’s Communist infiltrators (Infiltration, 88ff). See also Dr. Marshall’s source: “Sindona’s World” New York Magazine 24 Sep 1979.
Leading figure Henri Boullard stated in 1943 that “A theology that is not current will be a false theology” asserting that theology must continually evolve while also staying the same. Cited in Thomas G. Guarino, Foundations of Systematic Theology T&T Clark; 1 edition (May 1, 2005), 75. Mr. Guarino, however, asserts that Humani Generis misunderstood Nouvelle Theologie. The assertion that Ven. Pius XII appointed Modernist bishops was made in a lecture by Fr. Gregory Hesse and has not been verified.
This so-called “Third Secret” was revealed by the Vatican in 2000. Some allege based on circumstantial evidence that there is more explanation within the secret than what has been revealed

These words were allegedly not included in the translation of his opening speech according to a lecture by Fr. Christopher Smith, (“Vatican II What you were too embarrassed to ask” 2017 ccwatershed.org)
On the takeover of the council by the heterodox Rhine group, see two sources favorable to Vatican II: The Rhine Flows into the Tiber by Ralph Wiltgen (TAN, 1991) and What Happened at Vatican II by John O’Malley (Harvard University Press, 2010). Bishop Barron states that Vatican II was confusing because it is written as a “lyrical multivalent essay famously open to a variety of interpretations,” while affirming the “Hermeneutic of Continuity” thesis. “Additional Commentary from Fr. Barron on Vatican II,” Word on Fire (YouTube channel),Jun 27, 2012.
Joseph Ratzinger, Theological highlights of Vatican II Paulist Press; Rev. ed. edition (March 1, 2009), 114. Fr. Ratzinger does make a distinction that the Catholic Church is still “the Church” (emphasis in the original), but the dogma of Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus is not clear.
“It is the love of souls and the desire to help in any way the road to union of the separated brethren, by removing every stone that could even remotely constitute an obstacle or difficulty, that has driven the Church to make even these painful sacrifices [of changing prayers]” L’Osservatore Romano, March 19, 1965
On the censoring of certain language, see Lauren Pristas, “The Orations of the Vatican II Missal: Policies for Revision,” Communio, Winter 2003, accessible online. The works critiquing the Buginini liturgical reform are myriad.
This is the claim of Charles Murr in The Godmother (2017). He states that St. John Paul II later demoted him after Baggio had already appointed many Modernists as bishops, including Cardinal McCcarrick. “Baggio deliberated and exclusively created liberal bishops, and that any orthodox bishop or archbishop who managed to be named during those years occurred only due to dramatic efforts by orthodox members of the Roman Curia to convince Pope John Paul II to override Baggio.”
The New Catechism does quote Bl. Pius IX in his definition of the Immaculate Conception, but all teachings from St. Pius X and Gregory XVI are absent. The one exception to this is a reference (not a quotation) from Bl. Pius IX condemnation of religious liberty in which the Catechism states that religious liberty cannot be “unlimited” (2109). Leo XIII and Pius XII (as well as Pius XI) are quoted. See <http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_NOTE.HTM>
